French developer Midgar Studio has launched its Kickstarter campaign for Edge of Eternity. The game is inspired by turn-based JRPGs, uses an ATB-style battle system, and is initially planned for release on PC, Mac, and Linux in 2016. The game was previously put on Kickstarter back in 2013, but that campaign was cancelled.

Edge of Eternity's story mixes science-fiction and fantasy and is set on the world of Heryon, where crystals give its inhabitants access to magical powers. However, thirty years before the start of the game, invaders from outer space launched an assault. While they were eventually pushed back into their giant spaceship, transformed into an inpenetrable fortress, the invaders unleashed something known as the Metal Sickness on the world. The siege of the fortress is ongoing, and the Metal Sickness still plaguing the land.

An initial goal of $44k has been set for the PC, Mac, and Linux versions, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions set as a stretch goal at $60k. It has also been announced that veteran composer Yasunori Mitsuda is attached to the game, with an orchestral score composed by him planned if the campaign reaches the $130k figure.

Those interested in donating can get a copy of the game as a reward starting at $20 (with a limited number available at $15), with various other rewards available for higher donations. The campaign will end on March 22, 2015. More information about the game can be found on its Kickstarter page or official website.
