In a lengthy open letter to fans, CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be delayed until next year. The delay is for the purposes of ensuring that the game is able to reach the quality level that fans expect, and the company has set the new release date for February 2015.
Unlike the previous two entries in the Witcher trilogy, Wild Hunt has an open world setting. This naturally comes with a number of technical and quality control challenges, so it's not shocking that the game is facing development delays. Incidentally, this also sets The Witcher 3's release farther from that of Dragon Age III: Inquisition, which could be helpful to the sales of both games.
