Star Trek Online, the subscription-based MMORPG originally released in early February 2010, has joined fellow Cryptic Studios MMO Champions Online in the free-to-play stable. The free-to-play switchover coincides with the release of Season 5: Call to Arms, the fifth major content patch for Star Trek Online.

Subscriptions to Star Trek Online are still available. Those who pay the $14.99/month fee will be given a monthly stipend of Cryptic Points, the microtransaction currency, and a number of other features, as detailed here.
