As of January 4th, Square Enix's Wakfu has moved to open beta. Any player with a free account from Ankama will be able to download the client from the Wakfu home page. In addition to the transition to open beta, Wakfu has just released a new content update that includes a new class, finishes content for two nations, and includes numerous other improvements as well.

The servers had a data wipe at the transition from closed beta to open beta, although contest prizes and promotional items were saved. In the open beta announcement, Square Enix has also reiterated that Wakfu will officially launch in February 2012. Wakfu features tactical, turn-based play, and will be free to play with an option $6 per month premium subscription.
