The Last Remnant

Square Enix has announced it is making yet another move to further ingratiate itself into the worldwide market. The company will now be making some of its games available for purchase via Steam.

Steam is an online content delivery service that was first made available in 2002. As of today, hundreds of games, ranging from indie to triple-A titles, are available through the service and it has over 15 million users worldwide. The Last Remnant for the PC will be Square Enix's first Steam game, available on April 9, 2009, though the game's price is still unknown. The Last Remnant's Steam release will be delayed a couple of weeks from its retail release, as it is scheduled to be available in stores on March 24, 2009.

The Last Remnant was first released on the Xbox 360 on November 20, 2008. The PC version has been upgraded, including new features such as improved character animations, the choice between English and Japanese voice-overs, faster gameplay during battles, and the ability to allow multiple leader units to form unions. The game's release on Steam is not a one-off; Square Enix has plans to expand its Steam roster in the future.
