Knights in the Nightmare

Atlus has officially revealed the fourth of the five games that Amazon.ca leaked a while back with the announcement of Knights in the Nightmare. This Nintendo DS title defies genre limitations as it is a mix of RPG, strategy, and action in a way never before seen. Knights is developed by Sting as part of the Dept. Heaven series along with Riviera and Yggdra Union.

The ancient castle of Aventhelm, standing in the center of a lake somewhere between heaven and the underworld, was swarmed one night without warning by evil from the netherworld. Shortly after this, a wisp with no memory of its past is freed from an abandoned, forgotten church. This wisp is drawn toward Aventhelm to awaken souls of the dead knights in an effort to retake the castle.

Knights in the Nightmare features a heavily stylus-driven interface where players control the wisp as it tries to activate the souls of the knights. Combining tactical RPG, real-time strategy, and shooter elements, Knights is a completely innovative experience like nothing else. Players can recruit over 100 different characters consisting of seven knight classes. The souls of these knights can be sacrificed to another to help balance the party. Another feature of the game is the ability to replay it as the antagonist after finishing the first playthrough.

Knights in the Nightmare has yet to be rated by the ESRB, but is scheduled to launch on June 2. It will retail for an MSRP of $34.99. Only one more game is left on Atlus's list of leaks, so we should be hearing more about Crimson Gem Saga shortly.
