Yesterday, at the age of 69, Gary Gygax died in his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Though many may not be familiar with his name, everyone involved in gaming is certainly familiar with his legacy. Gygax was co-founder of the now unmistakable Dungeons & Dragons pen-and-paper RPG.
Dungeons & Dragons was first created in 1974 after Gygax and his partner, Dave Arneson, founded the company Tactical Studies Rules, usually referred to as TSR. Though he left the company in 1985, his impact on the gaming community as a whole had well been established. Arguably, nearly every single RPG made up to date has been influenced by his work. Though he is no longer with us, Gary will definitely be missed and his legacy will continue to impact future generations of gaming.
