Today, NIS America has announced it will be bringing over the next evolution in the Disgaea series. Disgaea 3 promises to bring a new story with a new cast of characters.

Disgaea 3 will bring back all the things that make Disgaea what it is: Geo Panels that can change the environment to temporarily enhance character stats, and the infamous Item World, where players enter randomly generated dungeons to strengthen items. New to the series is Geo Block. This feature will allow the terrain to be altered, allowing access to areas normally unreachable.

Much about Disgaea 3 is still unknown, but NIS America plans to fill in the blanks in the upcoming months. It will be released for the PlayStation 3 console in August 2008.
