EverQuest: The Buried Sea

EverQuest fans have a new expansion to play, thanks to Sony Online Entertainment. EverQuest: The Buried Sea has been released, but only via digital download at www.station.com for the suggested retail price of US$29.99.

The story takes place in Norrath, under a withering sun and a threat from hordes of the undead. Off the coast of Odus and deep under the sea rests the city of Katta Castrum, a city undiscovered for millennia. An artifact protecting the city has been weakened, and unless someone with the power to prevent its demise comes forth, Katta Castrum will be crushed under the pressure of the sea surrounding it.

"The Buried Sea is the thirteenth expansion for EverQuest, which is coming up on its eighth anniversary next month," said Christopher E. Sturr, Senior Global Brand Manager, Sony Online Entertainment. "It will not only provide players with new missions and content, but will continue to challenge players with two new worlds to explore."

The game introduces a new feature called an Energeian Power Source, which is a type of inventory slot only available for equipment in the expansion. The Energeian Power Sources provide a magical charge (such as fire, cold and light) to certain types of equipment, such as the Energeian Armor. Charging your armor with the fire element, for example, will increase your stamina, strength and endurance, but weaken you to the cold.

"In addition to the Energeian Power, players will also be actively involved in the gameplay of this expansion from creating their own guild banners to participating in ship-to-ship combat on the open seas against swash-buckling pirates," said Clint Worley, Producer, Sony Online Entertainment.

The expansion introduces more than 60 new quests (many involving those crazy parrot-loving pirates and their plank-walking ways), two paths of advancement (battles on the open sea, or exploration underneath), and several new guild and fellowship features.

You will need the original EverQuest game to play EverQuest: The Buried Sea. For more information, and stats on this new MMORPG expansion, you can visit www.everquest.com.
