Rune Factory

Natsume has announced plans to bring two more portable Harvest Moon titles to North America. Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon will debut on the Nintendo DS and Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon will grace PSP screens.

Further details on the plots of both games have also been released. In the ten years since the original Harvest Moon debuted for the Super Nintendo, the series has, for the most part, retained a basic formula: boy leaves big city to try out country living and bring life back to the dilapidated family farm. While more recent renditions have made slight alterations to the plot, Rune Factory and Innocent Life promise startling new twists to the tried and true storyline.

In Rune Factory, players take the role of a young amnesiac. He is aided by a young woman named Mist who sets him up on a plot of farmland. In addition to the traditional tasks of tilling the land, growing crops, raising livestock, and interacting with townspeople, the player will also have to fight monsters or attempt to tame them and set them to work on the farm. Innocent Life, on the other hand, takes place in a futuristic world where farming is a thing of the past. As the son of elderly scholar Dr. Hope, players inhabit an island littered with ancient ruins and will try their hand at running a farm while they attempt to unlock the mysteries of the island.

Both games are slated for the second quarter of this year. Look to RPGamer for further details as they become available.
