Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation

Atlus USA announced earlier this month that it has acquired the publishing rights to both Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation, and its sequel, appropriately named Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2. Both games were originally developed and published in Japan by Banpresto. SRT: Original Generation is scheduled for release in for this summer, and SRT: Original Generation 2 is currently slated for release later this fall.

Yu Namba, Project Lead of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation, said "The Super Robot Taisen franchise has been entertaining Japanese gamers for more than 15 years. We're very happy to bring this incredible strategy RPG series to the United States for the first time."

Two centuries prior to the events in Original Generation, humanity advanced into the nearby reaches of space, but progress came to a near-halt after the destruction caused by a collision of two meteors in the early years of the 21st century. In 179 S.E., a third meteor called "Meteor 3" landed near the Marquesas Islands in the South Pacific. Earth Federal Government dispatched a team to the crash site, which found a strange new technology previously unknown to man. This new technology from Meteor 3 became known as "Extra-Over Technology." Doctor Bian Zoldark, head of the committee, reported to the government that the creators of Meteor 3 would likely return to Earth to reclaim their lost technology. In response, the EFG heeded Zoldark's warning and began to develop humanoid mobile units called Personal Troopers, in preparation for an invasion from beyond the stars.

Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation will feature a detailed combat system, with both support techniques and weapon swapping between dozens of customizable mech types. Players will be able to improve character skills over time, transforming them from green pilots into trained aces, with over 40 hours of gameplay.

Both Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation and Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 have not yet been rated by the ESRB, and no official price has been announced.
