Konami Announces Tower of Purgatory Localization, New RPGs
01.27.2005

CO-HEAD OF NEW UPDATES

Konami

A few days ago, Konami posted a blurb on their website stating that they had "exciting news" to reveal on January 27. With the arrival of the day in question today--or "Gamer's Day", as Konami has named it--also comes a fulfillment to this promise. Among other things, Konami has announced a new RPG, given an official announcement to an already disclosed RPG, and announced that another known RPG will be seeing release in North America.

While the development of this game has been public knowledge for quite a while now, Castlevania for DS (working title) was officially announced today. Alongside this announcement, came the announcement of a North American localization for the PlayStation Portable RPG Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory. Tower of Purgatory's North American release and newly opened North American website notwithstanding, no new information was released regarding these titles.

Along with these announcements, Konami announced a brand new RPG for the Nintendo DS titled Lost In Blue. Labeled by Konami as a "Survival RPG," Lost in Blue will take players on "a journey of survival, adventure and mystery." The story begins after a disastrous incident at sea, where the hero of the game awakens to find himself on a seemingly uninhabited island. After meeting another survivor, a 17-year old girl, the two must work together to survive. During their quest to escape the island, the pair will learn survival skills such as hunting, foraging for food, and building tools, all the while discovering the island's mysteries.

Details thus far are vague, but the game will be sporting a "Dual Phase System," which will allow the player to view the two character's completely different experiences. Depending on the actions of the two main characters, it will also be possible to acquire multiple endings. Along with the game's announcement, Konami has opened up the game's official site.

Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory and Castlevania for DS have both been given a broad North American release spectrum of fall and spring 2005 respectively, while Lost in Blue has been given a more pinpointed release of August 2005.
