Square Enix Revels in Impressive Sales Figures
01.20.2004

CORTNEY STONE
STAFF REPORTER

Square Enix

Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy X-2 has now sold more than one million units in North America. In addition, over two million units of the game have been shipped in Japan since its March 2003 release. This brings the worldwide total of shipped units to 6.6 million. To further boost Square Enix's ego, more number-crunching has revealed that a total of 48 million copies of various Final Fantasy titles have been shipped throughout the life of the series. Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 make up 10 million of that figure, which means that the two games account for approximately one-fifth of all the Final Fantasy titles sold.

In spite of its monumental success, Square Enix has not forgotten about those who are responsible for the high sales figures. Jun Iwasaki, CEO of Square Enix, remarked that the numbers "[show] that fans of Final Fantasy X were waiting to continue the journey in this sequel. We are pleased with the wonderful response that Final Fantasy X-2 has received from the public and at retail."
