As part of the traditional pre-E3 rituals, Sega and Square Enix have both issued cryptic statements about their game plans for 2004. Both companies used the Japanese gaming publication Dorimaga as their medium by participating in an annual feature that outlined the plans of publishers for the year.

Sega's president, Hideki Okamura, mentioned that his company will launch what it hopes to be the first in a new series of RPGs. In addition, Sega intends to join the Asian MMORPG market with an offering of its own. While Okamura did not reveal any further details, he hinted that Sega will have a major launch for one of its new games at E3. As for Square Enix, the company has simply promised that its E3 booth will be filled with many pleasant surprises that will have visitors walking away with smiles on their faces.
