Fire Emblem: The Sealed Sword's Many Modes

More information concerning Fire Emblem: the Sealed Sword has surfaced as the game's March 29th Japanese release date draws nearer. Players unfamiliar with simulation RPGs will be able to breathe a sigh of relief; FE:tSS will come equipped with a tutorial mode which is both wide-ranging and inobtrusive. The mode can be activated simply by pressing the R button, which will instantly bring up information about a selected command or item.

Of more interest to players well-versed in the nuances of the series will be information on the game's multiplayer function, which will support up to four players. Gamers, each of whom will need a copy of the game in order to participate, will be able to deploy their saved armies against each other. Units can be grouped into teams for use in a basic melee battle mode, which will feature a number of customizable options. The basic mode of play, in which the last player remaining wins, is called Survival Mode. Also included with the game will be team play and a mode of play in which a point-based system will rank players based upon the power of the units they manage to defeat.

With March 29th fast approaching, Japanese gamers will be able to play FE:tSS in short order. Whether the game will make it to North America remains to be seen; however, the series has remained solely in Japan, making a localization somewhat less likely than it might otherwise be. Fire Emblem: the Sealed Sword will be priced at 4800 yen (roughly $37.00 US) in its basic form, and at 7800 yen ($60.00 US, approximately) for the DX version, about which little is known at this time.
