To hype the upcoming release of the Xbox in Japan, Microsoft held an "Xbox Experience" show to give many Japanese gamers their first taste of Microsoft's new system. Held from February 9th to the 11th, the show featured twenty-four playable systems with every game primed for release with the system available to try out. Metal Dungeon, an RPG scheduled for release on the 28th of February, was also playable.
Besides the two RPGs available for play on the system (Ex-Chaser being the other), the Managing Director of Microsoft, Mr. Oura, announced their continuing dedication to the RPG genre. Beyond the success of the launch titles and North American Xbox hits, the success of the Xbox's RPGs is considered an extremely high priority in Japan. Though no concrete plans from Microsoft have been announced regarding its specific plans for Xbox RPGs, Microsoft has shown that they realize the importance of RPGs in the Japanese market.
