Summoner 2 in Development for PlayStation 2
Summoner 2

THQ announced today that its Volition development studio is currently at work on Summoner 2, a sequel to the original RPG released for the PlayStation 2 and PC/Mac platforms. Volition promises that the game will take full advantage of the PS2's capabilities, with detailed, expansive environments, a new real-time battle system, and a cast of player characters with their own distinctive abilities and attributes. Up to three characters can be used at one time, and customization is allowed via a skill point system that facilitates the learning of learn new abilities and magic.

Summoner 2 offers players the role of Pava, who became Queen of Halassar at the age of four after liberating her kingdom from Galdyr. She is believed to be an incarnation of the Goddess Laharah by her followers and can transform into mythical entities by writing the language of the gods. Up to eight characters can join Pava on a story-driven quest through a fantasy world comprised of more than 30 locations.

In addition to Pava, the character Sangaril has also been revealed. She is a Munari assassin who betrays her clan to save Pava. She can make poisons from the venom of sea creatures and sneak up behind opponents to execute a backstab attack for critical damage.

Summoner 2 is scheduled for a fall 2002 release in North America. THQ and Volition recently launched an official Web site for those who wish to find out more about the game.
