Section 1: Introduction Tear Ring Saga is Enterbrain's Latest..err..Brainchild(Gets Beaten up by the Awful Pun Police. Owwie). It's the next game in it's 'Fire Emblem' series in all but name. It's also the first Non Nintendo Fire Emblem game. Although alot of the names and such have, understandably, changed, any Long time Fire Emblem fan can pick this game up and enjoy it. It's a Japan Only game, so US and other Players will have to import. If you do, see if your Importer has any copies of the Special 'Capture' Guide of the first 7 Chapters available. Similer to the System upheavels in Fire Emblem 5, Tear Ring Saga(TRS) has alot of new gameplay Gimmicks. If you've ever played Fire Emblem Gaiden(On the original Famicom) or the Super Nintendo remake of FE1(Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem) You'll find that this game is a Pleasing and Fun blend of the 2 games. Several Noteworthy changes include: Few Skills are Class Specific. Characters can, potentialy, learn skills that had been previously unavailable outside of a Certain class like Move Away and Steal New Weapons: Weapons are no longer just 'Use the highest Damage/Least weight'. Seemingly weak weapons can have such a Great Secondary effect that their worth using Save Staff: No More Unlimited Mid-Chapter Saves -_- At least it's Repairable and you can get a 2nd one.... Unlimited Repairs: Essentialy, if your willing to do some work. No more 'Repair 5 or so weapons and thats it' type business. New Classes!: Several new Classes make their very first appearence! New Skills!: New Skills make their appearence as well! Trust me..your gonna LOVE InstaSmite(tm) As you can see...even the most Battle Hardened FE Fan is gonna have their hands full. And even worst..many of our Cheese Tricks no longer apply^_~ 2: Basic Information Under Construction Sorry folks..still working on this section. Still translating some of the stuff I need for it(Mainly the Config Menu and Versus Mode) 3: Character Introduction 2 Parts to this Section. First is a, somewhat, spoiler Free listing of all the Characters who can join you, and their starting class. After that is when we get into the Spoiler filled goodness^_~ Characters you'll be able to control, in rough order of acquisistion(Warning..It's BIG!^_~). If a Character with a * Before their name dies, It's Game Over. The Sole Exception to this is Shigen, who does not get the * until Later in the game. Promotes to Pegasus Knight with special Flute. *2: Ryunan is given a choice of one of these 4 Warriors *3: Holmes is given a choice of One of the remaining 3 warriors + Lionel, but only if Roger, Mel, or Norton is in his group. *4: Very special and anatagonizing process envolving details you will see in the walkthrough. Too detailed to explain here. ^_^; *5: If Shigen "dies" before Katri leaves, A Majo will teleport in, and warp him elsewhere. During the second meeting of Ryunan and Holmes, Shigen will come along, unphased, and the Majo, Sheila, will be kissing the ground he walks on. *6: Depending on if you did the Letina events, You will either get Retina or Rebecca. Minor Character Quirks: Rachel- Rachel cannot 'Kill' any Human unit. Any attack that would kill will reduce the unit to 1 HP or Miss Altogether. It's possible to remove this restriction through a special event however you will need Luke for it Sasha and Skills: There are 3 Skills Sasha can ONLY learn as a Princess. These are: Blast of Wind(First Strike) Elite(2x Exp) and ?????. If you promote her to a Pegasus Knight before learning these she will never learn them. Lilly, although she has no Class Change, can upgrade her Singing skill through repeated use. Sasha isn't the only person who learns skills before class change! Marju has a skill he can only learn in his base class...Narron has a VERY Small gap where he gets a Base skill, and then 2 levels later gets a skill he'll only get Promoted! These 2 aren't the only ones...when the skill list is eventualy written up all of these will be listed. Meriel can get a very special spell through an event that works diffrently then any other magic in the game. Narsus' convince process is abit convulted..it will be explained in the walkthrough True to Tradition- Martel, Frau, and Venu can pull off the Triangle Attack Equip either Hagar or Tomas with a Shooter, and they become a shooter! However, this change is permanent until the Map is completed. Rafin's promotion event only happens if you recruit Sharon. Roger will follow Mel to whatever group she is moved to. Roger and Mel require some special requirements to get, this will be explained in the walkthrough. Class Introduction- Knight Lord/Prince- Ryunan's personal class. Excels with Light, High Hit Rate swords. Best weapon in most cases is either a Kill Sword or Rapier, but the Meinstar is also a strong contendor. Being Ryunan's class, take care not to expose it to much danger. Sea Theif- Garo's class. Main feature of this class is water movement, which is obscure but can really come in handy sometimes. Since he uses Axes his evasion tends to be low, but defense is higher to compensate. Not really worth using in the long run, but not completly worthless either. Rook Knight- The Basic Knight class. Depending on the character, they will either go to Gold and Commando Knight, or Paladin from here. Decently high strength and defense, speed and mobility is their best feature. Definetly character reliant. Good ones to hedge your bets on are Archis and Klien, Narron, and Rafin. Paladin- Roger's Starting Class and Estil's prmotion. Stats are all around average, with no major stand outs or deficencys. A Solid Proformer, if abit lackluster. Surprisingly, Roger is quite good, so it's your call on wether you want to grow Estil into this class Gold Knight- Narron is the sole person to promote into this class. Stats are VERY High in addition to Narron's own high growth. There's a VERY Small window for Narron to change into this class with Maximum amount of skills, so be wary. Commando Knight- Rafin's starting class, Archis' and Klien's promotion. Slightly stronger and faster then a Rook Knight, and like the Paladin has balenced stats. Better with Spears then Swords. Princess- Sasha's starting class. Plays like a faster, but much frailer, version of the Knight Lord. VERY hard to level up. An all around Poor Proformer(But don't give up on Sasha just yet!) Lady Knight- Uses both Swords and Bows. A VERY Versatile class with strong proformance. Kate and Sharron are about equal, but I personaly prefer Sharron. Arrow Knight- A Lady Knight on a Horse. Loses a few points in Coolness, but other then that is a solid upgrade. Best used to pepper an enemy from range, and then move in to finish off with their swords. Rapier is by far the best weapon for them. Rachel(Bow Master)- Technicaly Rachel is just a bow master, but she's so complex that she needs her own Blurb. Rachel joins your party early on with VERY High Stats, alot of skills, and the ridicously powerful Master Bow. She's known as the 'Bow Goddess' for a reason. This all comes with a catch though- Rachel will not kill any human. As mentioned above, the attack will reduce them to 1 HP or miss altogether. This can be problematic, but can also be worked around. It's possible to, if you got Luke, remove this restriction late in the game. Rachel is too good NOT to use...My Suggestion is to 1st off put her in Holmes Group- He'll be running into lots of Monsters and Rachel has no compunctions about filling them with arrows. Use her as a softner character, before bringing in someone else to deal the finishing blow(When dealing with Humans at least) Katri(Priest)- Technicaly just a Priest, Katri has some quirks that nesscitate her own section. As a Priest she preforms admirably, but you'll notice an item called 'The Ring of Saria' in her inventory. When used, this ring allows her to turn into Neuron the Dragon for several rounds. Neuron is, quite frankly, practicaly invincible. Futhermore, he's fully under your control AND there are no drawbacks to using him. Just be careful where you aim his Big Breath attack ^_~ Shinkan- Otherwise known as the Catchall Category. Shinkans, at their most basic function, act as support priests, using the same staffs that they do. The kicker is this- EVERY single Shinkan in the game has their own unique spin on it. Plum gains the Dancer ability during the game, Lily can Sing, and Letina/Rebecca can Use Summoning Staves. King's Knight- Theres only one in the game and it's Rofarl. Very High stats and abilities, but not much room for growth. Surprisingly proficient on the battlefield..definetly worth at least a second glance.
