Legal Stuff 1. Walkthrough ================ i. Ryo's House -------------- After your father's death sequence, you will be able to move freely. Leave your room and look for your housekeeper, Ine-san. She'll give you 500yen and tell you that you'll get 500yen every morning. Next thing, ransack the whole house, open every door, closet, drawer, fridge and everything you can open. Go to your father's room and read his will. There's a key item in his drawer, it's a key. Get it. After you're done, head to the dojo. Enter and converse with Fuk-san. After that, move towards the largest wall. Take the two paintings off the wall to find two weird things. Next, head to the long box on the ground on the right of the 2 paintings. Press Y and select the key. You'll get a Katana.(use unknown) You can use your phone to call the 2nd and 3rd phone number in your notebook but one of them is not in and the other, you will meet later so there's not much use. Flashbacks. There are 3 of them in the house. There could be more. 1)Go to kitchen and 'look' at the table. 2)Move near the withered tree near dojo. 3)Look up to the caligraphy in dojo's left wall. Other items in Ryo's House: A cassette player Two cassettes(ShenMue and ShenHua) A battery A torch A bottle of milk A white packet of food 2 secret technique scrolls(I forgot where I found it but it's there) 2 photos Sega Saturn: There's a Saturn in the cabinet under the TV in the living room. Seemingly you can get games for it at the Tomato Supermarket in the Merchants Street by buying things and draing lottery. QTE: NIL Miniquest: Talk to Fuk-san after the first time and he'll teach you a new fighting technique, foward+X. ii. Temple Area --------------- Just run all the way to the Residential Area along the main road. QTE: A soccer ball flying towards you. You must grab it or a little girl will suffer. Miniquest: You'll automatically get this. A little girl, Megumi, will ask you to feed a kitten. You'll walk up to the altar of the temple, choose the option that enables you to get a twig like food. Do not choose the biscuit. Remember, you can feed the cat anytime you want. I don't know if it'll die if you don't. Remember the white packet of food you found in your house? You can feed the kitten with it and also the milk. Remember the packaging for the food, you'll need to buy more from the Tomatomart. iii. Residential Area --------------------- Take the first right near the phone booth, and take another right. There's a guy fixing his bike, he'll tell that a certain guy saw the black car. This person is called Yamagishi, he wears a blue jacket and is bald-top. He could be at 2 places. His house beyond the guy fixing his bike or at the park near the exit. His house is one those 'bungalow' type houses, not the apartment types. Talk to him and you'll be able to access the Merchants Street. QTE: NIL Miniquest: An old lady will stand near Ah-Pu's Store looking for a particular house. She has bad eyesight so you offer to help her. To help her, you must find the house. The house on one of those directly opposite the entrance to the park. It's gate will be closed. Remember, 'look' at the name plate on the front wall and press A to 'find' the house. Next, go to the park and walk towards the old lady. After solving this, you can go to the Merchant street by taking the road next to the park.(i.e. When you leave the park, turn left and take the first left turn.) iv. Merchants Street -------------------- Run all the way down the main road until you reach a fork, one leads down the main road and the other into a smaller alley. Take the main road and you'll see a shop selling flowers. Talk to the white shirted girl, Harasaki. She'll tell you bout the black car. Continue down the main road and you'll see a black guy dancing by the street.Talk to him. He'll tell you he saw a chinese(SouRyu) and direct you to a travel agency. It's easy to find(It's directly opposite his store) The agency guy will give you info to find a chinese or something. Remember the alley just now? This alley is quite interesting. It is crescent with two entrances both at the main road. Use the entrance nearer to the Tomatomart. Run till you see a shop selling soccer balls. Enter the reataurant directly opposite it. Talk to the cook and he'll tell to there are 3 chinese in Merchant Street The San-Tous(3 knives) (I have no idea what this means) To find the first one, find a barber shop that's open, how to tell? There'll be a cylindrical thing turning at the front and it's in blue, red and white. It's near the end of Merchant's street The barber will tell you the first guy, Liu, is in hospital and hasn't open his shop recently but he is back today or some other day, this could have something to do with the date. Go to his barber shop near the entrance of Merchants Street and enter. He will not be there but the barber there will tell you he's in the park in the Merchants Street. He's there alright, talk to him and he'll tell you about Ran-Te(Blue Emperor?) and blah blah blah. He'll tell you you need to find some sailors. Talk to some people and they'll tell you that the sailors gather at night. Wait till after seven then go to MJQ to find them playing pool. They'll give you a shot, if you miss, you'll have to pay for their drinks(1000yen). I missed and left the bar. (I don't know what will happen if you make the shot) Next I went to the Heart Beat Bar. The location is quite obscure. It's in a small alley(And I mean small)opposite the bike shop which is in the same alley as Yokosuka Bar. On the way there 2 punks will try and make your life difficult, so teach them a lesson. Next in the bar, while trying to obtain info, another punk will make trouble, defeat 3 punks in QTE combat and the bartender will reveal info on Ran-Te. He tells you that you need to find a guy called Charlie. He also tells you where he is.(It's only useful if you know Jap) Anyway, he's in a building with a green door and a security camera on the door's top-left corner. The building is near Liu's barber shop and before Harasaki's flower shop. Go in, and talk to the people there. One will reveal info on Charlie. Talk to Kurita, who is the guy in the army jacket further down from Tom's stand. He'll tell you he's seen Charlie around the gamecenter after 7pm. Wait till then and head down there. You'll run into a punk who leads you into a trap setup by the punks back at Heart Beat Bar. Beat them up and they'll tell you bout the tattoos. Go to the gamecenter again and talk to the bikers, they'll ask you whether you want a tattoo, choose left option. They'll tell you bout the tattoo shop. It's in an building opposite Yokosuka Bar. It's on the second floor, the shop has a open sign on it and a poster. The punk will tell you to come back tommorow. Leave and you'll get a cutscene wit Harasaki, they'll talk about school. Now go home and sleep. Waste the next day away until 2pm, then go to the tattoo shop, after some cutscenes, get ready for a QTE. You'll question Charlie after you beat him in QTE. He'll tell you to come back at 3pm tomorrow. Basically, I wasted the day away until 8pm then went to sleep. Next morning, you'll be transported to the dojo where you'll spar with Fuk-San. After that you'll get a cutscene with Ine-san, she'll give you a letter in chinese.(It's written laterally-inverted and in weird caligraphy. Hell, I'm chinese and I can't read it) Get out of the house and a boy'll come running to you in the Residential area. 5 punk are making trouble, free battle with them and save the boy in a short QTE. He'll tell you he's chinese and his name is Gao Wen. Go to Merchant's Street and talk to Kurita and he'll tell you to go to the restaurant opposite the sports shop. Unfortunately, the chef tells you he can't read it. Head towards the gamecenter to find Gao Wen. He tells you his grandmother who runs a pottery shop might be able to decipher it. Go to the shop. It's on the right side of the fortune teller's shop. The old lady will thank you for saving Gao Wen. Then she'll decipher the letter. It goes some thing like "Seeker of the mirror beware, blah blah blah" on the first page. On the second page is a verse "Father of the sky, Nine dragons, Mother of Earth, Friend on Mine" and a phone number. Go to the tabacco shop near the end of the Merchant's Street and call the number. The person will say "Father of the Sky", you'll have to answer "Nine dragons" by choosing the right option. Then he'll say "Mother of Earth" and you'll answer "Friend of Mine" by choosing the left option. He'll tell you warehouse no. 8. Next ask the old lady there about it and she'll tell you where it's location is though not exact, next check the phone book there and you'll find it's address. Talk to Tom and he'll tell you how to get there. By taking the bus of course. Go to the bus stop outside Merchant's Street near the tabacco shop. Wait for the bus and get on. This is the end of Disc 1. When the screen goes black, press A and save the game. YOU MUST SAVE!! Next remove Disc 1 and insert Disc 2. Use the Load and Start the save game and you'll end up in New Yokosuka Harbour. QTE: There'll be one near the Tomatomart, two thugs will challenge you. Miniquest: Yamagishi will be in the park in this area, talk to him and he'll teach you a new powerful technique. foward+X+A. While walking on some day, a guy from the chinese restaurant oppo the sports shop will ask you to buy him a drink. This one is your call, buying him a drink doesn't do anything. This happens many times.(Son of $%###%, if it wasn't scripted, I would have beat him up, freaking freeloader!) v. New Yokosuka Harbour ----------------------- After you get off the bus, take the left turn and run straight and you'll get a cutscene plus QTE with two gangsters, teach them a lesson and he'll point you towards the No. 8 warehouse but the guard will not let you in. Go to the back of the warehouse and look at the open window, next push the conspicious lookng box towards the bigger pile of boxes and climb all the way up and into the building. Head right all the way down the walkway and you'll hear a conversation between to workers talking about the old warehouse street where there's another warehouse 8. Wait till night after 7pm then head towards the old warehouse street, it's quite hard to find but it has a gate that's slightly ajar. Head on in where you have a QTE to prevent a torch from dropping to the ground. Once that's done, you'll get to enter the old warehouse street. Miniquest: You get to buy a beggar a coke near warehouse 12-17 (Another %#%$^%^ freeloader) vi. Old Warehouse Street ------------------------ Can anyone say Metal Gear Solid? This part of the game is hell. I think Yu tried to recreate MGS in Shen Mue, however, he forgot to add in stuff like the radar, which is reasonable. Why would a teenager carry radars around? And that's the bad thing. There are tons of guards in a small cramped up area opposed to larger areas in MGS, so basically once you're seen, you're thrown out and the game automatically goes to the next day.(I nearly made it to Christmas b4 I reset the whole thing) Also, even though they added the ability to run and hide, it's useless. There are so many guards around, you are bound to get caught by another when running. Also, the hide is useless, cause another guard can sneak up from behind without you even knowing. Here's how I got through. At the beginning, you'll see four paths from where you are hiding from the guards, 2 left and 2 right. Wait until the guard has walked into the nearest right path, then run like hell towards the further right path, watch out, a guard will emerge from the further left path, avoid him. Continue running and don't stop. down the right path, take a right. Continue running and till the end of the path and a guard should discover you, quickly take a left, and then take a right at the end of the road and you'll see a few barrels, quickly duck behind them and the guard will walk off, then walk out of the dead end and take the first right, walk down and you should see warehouse 8, but hide behind the wall until the guard nearby walks away, then go in. On the first floor, you'll see some shelves, pick up the shiny looking plate and a cut scene will occur. The old Chen will tell you that the mirror comes in pairs and asks you to find the other one. He'll remind you to call him when you find it and use the password from earlier when you called him. I was automatically transported home. Next morning, look for Ine-San and she'll tell you Fuk-san is looking for you. He's near the dojo. He'll apologize for something. After that, Ine-san will tell you your father once went to the antique shop, so head there now. On the way, you should get a cutscene of your cat recovering. At the antique shop, an old guy will give you an item. This Thing is actually the part of a Katana that is usually found between the handle and the blade. Buy a light bulb at Tomatomart before you head home. Head back home for a fight will young Chen near the phone booth. You'll also see Chai on the rooftop. At home, you'll show the thing to Fuk-san who asks you to show it to Ine. She tells you it bears the family symbol. Now go back to the dojo. Remember the Katana from earlier? Take it and remove the rightside caligraphy from the main wall. Insert the katana. Remove the left caligraphy from the wall and insert the Thingy. You'll then access the Hazuki house basement. vii. Hazuki House Basement --------------------------- Take out the torch you found much earlier and switch it on. When you reach the main room, look at the light. It's bulb is missing so insert the one you bought, then switch it on and turn off your torch. Search the whole place. You should find a technique scroll written in chinese and a white leaf and a photo of your father and a friend. Now look a the shelf near the mirror, there are scratch marks on the ground. Now push the shelf away and take a look at the weird part of the wall. You'll try but to no avail to open it. Go pick the axe near the entance and hack the wall open. Now you've found the Phoenix Mirror. Now leave and call Chen using your phone, remember the password. Right option, then left option. Go now to warehouse number 8. On the way, drop into the pottery shop and the antique shop. At the pottery shop, the old lady will tell you that the dragon and phoenix are Shin-Jus(something like that. It means sacred beasts) and that the emperor of China is represented by the Big Dipper cause it looks like a dragon. The old man at the antique shop will tell that this stone mirror was made from a certain precious stone from Guilin in China and carved by a certain sculpture. When you reach the warehouse, Chen will tell you the name of the rock that the mirror was carved out from but I forgot what it was. He'll tell will that when the 2 sacred beasts are put together, the gates of heaven and earth will open and a monster called the Shi-yu will appear(Anyone wants a wild guess at what Souryu wants with the mirrors??) Suddenly, Chai will drop in and snatch the mirror away. A QTE will be next and you'll get the mirror back. Then you'll ask Chen about Ran-te(Which refers to Souryu) and he tells you that he is in Hong Kong. You tell them that you want to go and they're fairly upset about it. I was transported back home and talked to Fuk-san about Shi-yu. The morning, you'll take a look at your bankbook and magically get around 30000yen. (Wau! The wonders of technology, you don't even need to go to the bank!!) This is where I've stopped. 2. Training Grounds =================== The park --------- In Residential Area. Carpark ------- Near exit of Merchant Street(Note: Not the entrance as in where you entered) 3. Training ============ To train in an open space, press R to open your tech-scroll, choose the tech you want to train and exit. Keep using it and that tech's EXP bar will increase. It will also level up. 4. Places of interests ======================= Ah-Pu's Store ------------- This store is in the Residential Area. You can play the 'gacha-gacha' outside the store which is a game where you can collect toys Antique Store ------------- This is in the Merchant's Street. It's abit further down from Tomatomart. Sells secret technique scrolls for Free Battle Mode. Expensive stuff. 5. Micellaneous =============== - Fuk-San is not your brother.(He calls your father Sensei, which means teacher) - Ine-san is not your mother.(This misconception evolved from the fact that the building where your room is, when directly translated, means Hazuki's mother house. This is not so. It actually means Hazuki residence mother building, as in mothership for aircrafts. It means it's the main building) 6.
