The final boss is inside the Mana Santuary. If you're ready, ride on Flamie and fly to the Gate above the Forgotten Island. Unfornately, the Sanctuary starts to wither. All green leaves turns brown. The Mana Tree will soon die.
Please be noted that there're some changes on the route towards the Mana Tree. This makes the journey a little bit longer. Luckily, you can still refresh yourself under the golden Mana Statues.
The monsters inside are all jelly-like creature. The blue one mimics the monsters you've met in the part, while the black one mimics the characters in your squad. The black one is much tougher, so be careful if you met it (Luckily, I seldom met the black jelly).
The Final Battle
The final boss waits for you under the Mana Tree. The story also differs among your choice of character. The following is the story for Duran/Angela and Hawkeye/Riesz:
"What about you?" you ask Fairy. "You'll die if you revive us!"
"Leave me alone. Defeat the Dragon King and save the world!" sas Fairy.
So the battle starts. The dragon is not really tough for me (at least compared with the Prince of Darkness). Just watch your HP/MP (his mightiest attack costs you 450HP) and avoid using magic, and be patient. If the BMG (background music) is changed, that means you're in the middle of the battle.
This boss is much tougher. His mightiest attack costs you HP600, so be careful with your HP. Also, be patient again.
The Final Scene
After defeating the final boss, you worry about Fairy.
"Fairy! Fairy! Where are you?"
Soon a young goddess appears.
"Fairy is actually a seed of the Mana Tree. Finally the Mana Tree is dead. Thanks for your help, I can now become the next Goddess of Mana. I'll stay inside the Sanctuary and become the next Mana Tree. You've made it; you've saved the Sanctuary and the wo rld."
"You become the Mana Tree? You wouldn't leave with us?"
"I'm afraid yes. I'll never forget about all of you. Without your courage and support, I think I can't even survive. Be quick! The Gate will soon be sealed. Leave here quickly!"
So you leave the Sanctuary and flies back to the world. Then each of your character will have a seperate ending.
"I'm ... I'm so frightened! I don't know what to do since you've captured."
"Maybe I'm too tough to you. You've not a battle machine, and you still miss your mother very much. I've got a present for you." It's Karl! "I wouldn't force you to be a warrior, but you're already a good one. I'm proud of you, because you've saved the world."
So you get into the Castle. "Roki will surely be pleased by what you've done, Duran!" says the King.
"You're already the best fighter in Forsena, even better than your father, because you've overcome the temption of the Dark side and save the world."
So the story ended. In the final screen, you'll see Flamie flying in the sky, sometimes accompanying with the giant torture on the sea. The Mana Sanctuary is revived. Birds returns to the Mana Tree, and the Mana Sword still lays under the Tree.
