Legend of the Lunar Lady

The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch is the sequel-prequel to Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion, which was released for the PlayStation Portable in November of 2005.

The story centers around a young man named Jurio and a girl named Chris who head out on a pilgrimage to a series of villages and shrines as a sort of “coming-of-age” event. Unfortunately, they get mixed up in a series of events which leads them on an adventure to save their world.

"Enemy encounters are not random battles – players can see their enemies on the map before they run into them."

Legend of Heroes II features 2D graphics with old-school appeal. Characters are sprites in a flat but richly textured world.

Enemy encounters are not random battles – players can see their enemies on the map before they run into them. This works hand-in-hand with the built-in A.I. Enemies can and will sense your party’s strength and, depending on the relative levels of toughness, they will either aggressively hunt you down or run away.

The battle system employs a Deadly meter that fills as you give and take damage in battle. When this gauge is completely filled, a character can unleash devastating special attacks.

Nihon Falcom specifically designed Legend of Heroes II with the fact that it was handheld platform game in mind. A player can save their game at any time except when in battle or during events, making shorter periods of playtime feasible for gaming on the go.

One of the aspects that the game shares with its predecessor is its pet system. A dog, cat, or rabbit will follow the party around and players can choose to spend time with it. This time can be spent in many ways, but if players treat their pet well, it will return the favor.

Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch is scheduled to be released on June 20th 2006 with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $39.99 and is rated E 10+ for Everybody 10 years and up.
