Arc

We were lucky enough to ambush Director Yasuhito Kobayashi and Peter Cesario of Arc the Lad's online team. Yasuhito indicated the best part of making Arc the Lad Online (AKA Arc the Lad: End of Darkness) was achieving the more action oriented experiences and bringing the Arc the Lad franchise into an online environment. When asked on the experience of taking a traditional strategy game and reimagining it as an action game, he believed that the series had already been heading that direction with Twilight of the Spirits and he was just finally breaking the mold and continuing the natural evolution of the series.

Knowing that there were going to be a number of returning characters, I was obligated to ask if Arc the Lad would be making his return appearance and indeed he would as a secret character that can be reached. All in all, the game is set to have twenty-five playable characters with 24 of them being returning fan favorites like the mighty Shu.

Asked about the single player game, we were told that it would be a complete game in and of itself with the online portion being it's own mostly self contained play experience. The single player game is supposed to take around twenty hours to complete and allow players to then go online to either play cooperatively or competitively on over three hundred maps. It looks like it's going to be a pretty good day for long time Arc the Lad fans and those who were hoping for a better version of the Arc the Lad Collosseum.
