Earlier today RPGamer had the opportunity to meet with the makers of Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir.

The interview was with Tomoya Asano, Producer of Fullmetal Alchemist Game and Director for the Fullmetal Alchemist Anime, and Koji Taguchi, Senior Vice President and Publicity and Media Business. Here they gave us a heart to heart over the upcoming Fullmetal Alchemist 2: The Curse of the Crimson Elixir. Developed by a team of forty people, Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir is a fast-paced action RPG prequel to the previous Fullmetal Alchemist game that came out last year.

Containing full animated scenes and advanced cel-shaded graphics, the developers were very enthusiastic over continuing to approach the feeling of controlling a live action cartoon in game form with Fullmetal Alchemist 2 through several improvements over Fullmetal Alchemist. The story of Fullmetal Alchemist 2 follows the anime series for the first nine episodes and then breaks off into an original story of the two alchemy wielding Elric brothers.

The game, unfortunately, is only one player, allowing the player to control Edward Elric and give commands to his younger brother. The battle system is similar to Fullmetal Alchemist allowing the player to transmute parts of the environment as they travel through new 3d lands. As a final question, we tried to grill the producer on whether he liked the anime or the manga better, but he was hesistant to respond.
