For the last time, DON'T CALL ME ANDY

Andy's Back YAY.
ANDREW

Die.

Whilst listening to a weird version of "Tomorrow" (in rock if you can believe?), i wondered what in your view is the best program to create your own rpg's. I'm quite partial to Neverwinter's MOD creater but have never used any of the RPG Maker game/programs.

Also what are your impressions of FFXII, Kingdom Hearts 2, Rogue Galaxy and Radiata Stories.

Can't wait for the new nintendo system, especially if we are actually able to play games from the snes (Terranigma and Secret of Mana), but will they release controller's for the SNES and 64 as the new console doesn't look like it as the buttons for thr SNES or 64's controller, and what's the use playing a game if you can't open the menu, or block.

Anyway glad your back and I hope Rebecca or Matt meet everybodies expectations as a new partner to this collumn.

Bainick

ANDREW

The new Revolution controller comes with a port that allows you to add attachments, so I wouldn't be surprised if such attachments included controllers for previous Nintendo systems; not only would that be an excellent means of making people pay through the teeth to play their old favorites, it would also save them the (admittedly minimal) trouble of remapping buttons.

My impressions of those four games, in order: Iffy, icky, guh?, and spiffy. I also hope that Rebecca or Matt meets everyone's expectations.

Oh dear

Dear hotshot,

Here's a good question, what would the Chocobos Latin name be? (nausicaa familiris?)

"predictable tagline"
E.M.

ANDREW

Iunno... Dromaius novaesquariae? It's pretty much whatever you want to call it (that's a (probably botched) variation on the scientific name for emus, which are probably about as close to a chocobo as real birds are going to get. As for joke names, I have nothing. I blame cable tv for sapping my imagination.

Lonely lonely gamers

I've been severely irritated by the lack of RPG players in my part of the globe (Wisconsin), most people I know play Mario and Football, it sucks. Any suggestions on what I can do to make this turn around, since these people seem to be completely clueless about games in general, I've listed half of my library and they never even heard of them.

Also, what do you think it would take to set up a videogame club of sorts? What kinda bylaws or something to go by, or even what kind of activities (besides gameplaying of course) could be done?

ANDREW

Hmm. First, who exactly are you listing these games to? If you're in high school, I would tend to suggest that listing games to random strangers in the halls is a good way to get beaten up. Forming a club is an even better means of doing so. If you're in college, on the other hand, I'd troll around at anime clubs, as those tend to be a good place to find gamers. In general, though, you're best served to look online, as your fellow Wisconsinite Paul Koehler did that fateful day in... 200x. In fact, I recommend RPGamer's IRC network to you. It's not quite the same as sitting around in your living room and playing RPGs, but really... How many RPGs are actually multiplayer?

Finally, on topic

Bucket has my vote! I'm sure you know why....

- Xan

ANDREW

I don't, but I'll just smile and nod like I do! Thanks for sharing, Xan.

P.S. Why did you abandon us? WHYYY? ;_;

Also on topic!

Welcome back to the QnA seat, Cast.

You're right, my hatred of Wind Waker's style is probably best described as random. I was going to prove you wrong by giving you a nice explanation of what I hated, but, well, I find I can't really put it into words. There's just something that inspires a "what in the world were they thinking" feeling deep inside me. Maybe it's the beady eyes and watermelon-shaped heads. . .I don't know.

Anyway, as for the battle music topic, I wish I had an original answer, but I truly do think FFX's Enemy Attack (the standard boss music) is the best I've heard yet. Next would have to go the Xenogears battle music, particularly Knight of Fire (even if I it does sound like that voice in the background that comes up is saying something like "20 seconds until you get your a** kicked"), and of course, Chrono Trigger is just plain good. I do like most of the Final Fantasy music as well; I'm afraid most of the rest I've heard tends to be either on the bland side or sometimes just plain bad. There are rare exceptions, of course.

On the vote, I had to go with Matt. I guess there's just something about you Canadians. I liked Bucket just fine, but I just find Matt more humorous and to have a more readable style overall, especially when I'm reading QnA through my eyelids from work-induced fatigue. I was also getting concerned that she hasn't played anything recent; frankly, I didn't apply because I had played so few recent games (among other reasons), and it doesn't seem like she's played any. I also think Matt's quality is more consistent, where Bucket was delivering some bland columns.

- Nwash (who never realized he had a secret love for Canadians until this contest)

ANDREW

Indeed, the failure of Bucket to play anything recent has played a big role in a number of people's decision to vote for Matt, from what I can see. In any event, I guess it's time for us to scroll down past this rather mediocre column so that we can find the answer we've all been waiting for (well, that you've all been waiting for... I've known for quite some time ^_^)!
